Another month has passed us by, and August brings us closer to the end of the season. However, several new tracks and albums have dropped to lift our spirits. With brand new projects like Khalid's Sincere, Maren Morris' Intermission, and 49 Winchester's Leavin' This Holler, the beginning of August promises bright things ahead.
A slew of singles dropped, too, from exciting collaborations like Charli XCX's "Guess" remix with Billie Eilish and Jessie Murph's new track with Teddy Swims to new offerings from Big Sean, Jhené Aiko, Jelly Roll, Suki Waterhouse, and more. Whether you're looking for full projects or a few new playlist additions, you will not be disappointed.
As you prepare to close out summer, be sure to check out these 10 new songs and albums.
Charli XCX & Billie Eilish — "Guess"
Just 24 hours after Charli XCX set the internet ablaze with a tease of her next collaboration, she not only unveiled the special guest, but she also dropped the track as a New Music Friday-eve gift: a remix of "Guess" with her fellow pop queen, Billie Eilish.
The pulsating song keeps the same club-ready aesthetic of the original from Charli XCX's brat, but taps into the sexual fluidity of Eilish's HIT ME HARD AND SOFT with the "LUNCH" singer adding a new verse (fans particularly went into a frenzy over Eilish's line "Charli likes boys but she knows I'd hit it"). The track offers a raunchy brand of girl power, further emphasized by the underwear-strewn video, as the unworn undergarments will be donated to survivors of domestic violence through I Support the Girls.
Kacey Musgraves — 'Deeper into the Well'
Seven-time GRAMMY-winner Kacey Musgraves is expanding the well she first introduced in March. With the release of Deeper Well, Musgraves showcased a softer side of herself that she discovered during periods of self-introspection following significant changes in her life.
Now, with Deeper into the Well, she takes us further along on her journey. Musgraves gave a taste of the additional seven songs with the release of her single "Irish Goodbye," which narrates the tale of someone struggling to find forgiveness for someone who abruptly left. The extended edition also includes two new features, "Perfection" with Tiny Habits and "Superbloom" with Leon Bridges.
The release comes one month before Musgraves is set to kick off her Deeper Well World Tour in Pennsylvania; she'll hit cities on both coasts, and conclude in Nashville in December.

Saweetie — "My Best"
Maintaining her message of confidence and self-worth, Saweetie releases "My Best," an unapologetic anthem that emphasizes knowing your worth and surrounding yourself with people who prioritize your best interests.
The music video visually represents Saweetie's personal growth, both as an individual and as an artist. Shot at hometown landmarks like her high school and childhood neighborhood, she invites fans on a nostalgic journey of introspection — while also reminding them to stay true to themselves.

Tones and I — 'Beautifully Ordinary'
Four years after her smash "Dance Monkey" took over the world, Tones and I releases her second studio album, Beautifully Ordinary. The follow-up to 2021's Welcome to the Madhouse, the 16-song project reflects the artist's growth, exploring themes of nostalgia, love, and self-acceptance. Each song invites listeners to embark on an emotional, personal journey with Tones and I, offering a source of catharsis for those who relate to her experiences.
Tones and I first gave listeners a taste of the project in June with lead single "Dance With Me," a track that delves into themes of heartbreak and desperation. Despite its underlying message of loneliness, the track retains Tones and I's signature upbeat rhythms and vibrant instrumentals — and the rest of Beautifully Ordinary follows suit, offering intimate and heartfelt narratives through her radiant musicality.
Sam Smith — 'In The Lonely Hour (10th Anniversary Edition)'
Celebrating the six-times-platinum debut album that catapulted them to stardom, Sam Smith is releasing the 10th anniversary edition of In The Lonely Hour. This special edition features a reimagined version of their classic "Stay With Me," and a brand new track, "Little Sailor."
The original project launched Smith's career into the stratosphere, receiving critical acclaim and earning them four golden gramophones at the 2015 GRAMMYs, including Best New Artist.
"I feel so incredibly lucky to be celebrating this milestone with you," Smith wrote on Instagram. "My team and I have created this beautiful anniversary edition for us all, and for the last 10 years."

Killer Mike — 'Michael & The Mighty Midnight Revival, Songs For Sinners & Saints'
Fresh off going three-for-three at the 2024 GRAMMYs, Killer Mike delivers another potent project, Michael & The Mighty Midnight Revival, Songs For Sinners & Saints. A follow-up to his autobiographical album 'MICHAEL', the 10-song collection dives deeper into his personal narrative, offering an epilogue filled with introspection and celebration — including the poignant track "HUMBLE ME," which reflects on his arrest after winning his GRAMMYs in February.
Killer Mike provided fans with a gift, releasing the album as a free download for the first 48 hours. In support of the release, Killer Mike electrified audiences with six performances over three nights at the legendary Blue Note jazz club in NYC, including a live-streamed show that attracted nearly 100,000 viewers. This project is a testament to Killer Mike's ongoing dialogue with his audience, addressing both tribulations and triumphs. As the tour continues with a stop at Lollapalooza just one day after the album's release, fans can engage further with tracks like "NOBODY KNOWS" and "HIGHER LEVEL," which offer a glimpse into the rapper’s evolving journey and continued impact on hip-hop.
Tiera Kennedy — "Cry"
Still riding high from her vocals featured on Beyoncé's COWBOY CARTER, country star Tiera Kennedy releases her latest single, "Cry," which samples Justin Timberlake's 2002 Timbaland-produced hit "Cry Me A River." It's another taste of Kennedy's forthcoming debut album, which she dubs "R&B/country."
"I've been really inspired by the music I grew up listening to," Kennedy shared in an Instagram video. "Timbaland had a hand in a lot of those songs."
Known for her distinctive approach to blending genres, Kennedy invites listeners to immerse themselves in her world of creative storytelling with her latest track. "Cry" explores the narrative of someone who has made their bed and has to lie in it, while Kennedy has already moved on.

Gryffin — 'PULSE'
Returning with his third studio album, electronic artist Gryffin embarks on a new era and unveils a fresh side of his artistry with PULSE. The 14-track album features collaborations with a range of artists, including Rita Ora, Disco Lines, MAX, and more.
"PULSE is a return to why I fell in love with dance music in the first place, and this is the most creatively inspired I've felt in years," said Gryffin on Instagram. "I can't wait for you all to hear the new sound and feel the passion I've put into these tracks."
John K — "Lost"
After more than a year of not releasing music, John K is back with a new single, "Lost." It's a song that vulnerably reveals feelings of completeness after finding the right person — a fitting narrative for the happily married singer, who is expecting his second child with his wife, Lenée. . Becoming a father is one of the several major life changes John K has experienced in the past few years, all of which have shaped his upcoming music and brought his musical artistry to the next stage.
"I was writing with the aim of challenging myself to do something I hadn't done before," John K said in a press statement. "I shattered the box of what I thought I had to be, and it allowed me to get to deeper levels of honesty and really gain even more confidence. I took risks, and I honestly expressed myself.
Jack White — 'No Name'
After releasing two albums within four months in 2022, Jack White has essentially gone silent since — until now. Just two days after announcing his sixth studio album, No Name, the rock icon unveils his latest masterpiece.
The 13-track album stays true to White's DIY philosophy, with the recording, production, and mixing all handled by the artist himself at his own Third Man Studio. Even before the album dropped on Aug. 2, reviews were already glowing, with Variety calling it the album "fans have been lusting for" due to its parallels to the rip-roaring rock of his former band the White Stripes — but "without seeming retro or leaning too heavily on nostalgia."

Bootsy Collins — "Pure Perfection"
Ahead of his forthcoming album, Album of the Year #1 Funkateer, Bootsy Collins has released "Pure Perfection," a smooth, sultry track featuring German rapper FANTAAZMA and rapper Giz. The track also features one of the funk icon's legendary alter-egos, "Bedroom Bootsy," who brings a sultry tone to the tune.
Due Oct. 25 (the day before Collins' 73rd birthday), Album of the Year #1 Funkateer includes an 18-song track list with contributions from Snoop Dogg, Wiz Khalifa and more. And if the smooth, thumping vibe of "Pure Perfection" is any indication, the funk vet is ready to take fans on a trippy musical journey — one that only Bootsy Collins can moderate.

Hundreds of GRAMMY U members excitedly gathered at Riverside Revival in Nashville for the annual GRAMMY U Fall Summit. Presented by Mastercard, the two-night summit offered networking and educational opportunities, as well as several performances.
The 2024 Fall Summit kicked off on Sept. 30 with a networking mixer and performance showcase featuring Nashville-based artists Bekah and Josh of Girl Named Tom, as well as Keearah and Mille Manny, the latter of whom are GRAMMY U members from Tennessee State University. Following the performances, attendees participated in a curated networking mixer with notable mentors from the Recording Academy, Mastercard, Amazon Music, and other organizations. This colorful evening also included a Y2K-themed photo activation and a Mastercard sensory experience that left attendees excited to return for the next night.
The second day of the Summit began with the #Trendsetters panel, a conversation in which industry marketing professionals discussed the past, present, and future of album marketing.
Afterward, GRAMMY-nominated artists Charli XCX and Troye Sivan took the stage to kick off "From Concept To Culture," the keynote panel. In collaboration with the Recording Academy’s Songwriters & Composers Wing, Charli XCX and Troye Sivan discussed how their pop culture disruption connects with their commitment to authenticity through songwriting and collaboration.

Embrace Your Individuality To Create Successful Collaborations
Troye Sivan (L) and Charli XCX (R) speaking at the 2024 GRAMMY U Fall Summit
During their joint SWEAT Tour, Charli XCX and Troye Sivan discussed how they embrace their individuality as solo artists in the midst of artist collaboration and touring.
Sivan and Charli said their songwriting journeys have grown exponentially. For his part, Sivan has continued to trust his gut when it comes to songwriting, embracing both individuality and feeling. "Make what you love," Charli echoed Troye’s sentiment, adding that they no longer write music in a "commercial style."
Sivan said his and Charli’s individual "manifest[ations of] different versions of pop music" are exciting individually, but become even more so as they intertwine during their national joint tour. Sivan described this collaboration as "the collision of worlds," recounting how their individual sounds complement each other when brought together on tracks like "Talk Talk."
The key to staying open-minded in any collaboration is "letting yourself be moved and really zoning in on something magical," Sivan said. That ability to hear and trust new ideas has led to fruitful collaborations with touring partner Charli.
Change The Narrative By Being Authentic
Charli XCX
The second day of the GRAMMY U Fall Summit, held simultaneously as Music Advocacy Day 2024, highlighted the importance of authenticity, a prominent topic amid the rise of AI’s role in music creation.
"[I’m] all for new tools, but there will always be people who exploit new tools," Charli XCX said. Both she and Sivan described AI as a potential musical instrument, rather than something to fear. Artificial intelligence and other digital tools can lower barriers in music, empowering anyone to create and express themselves.

Moving beyond AI’s use in music production, the pair also discussed the importance of authenticity in songwriting. Both GRAMMY-nominated artists’ originality and honesty has not only transformed pop culture, but also made safe spaces for fellow songwriters.
To Be A #Trendsetter, Define The Artist’s Vision
Erich Buchi, Fred Rubenstein, Bri Small and Nathan Pyle during #Trendsetters panel
The GRAMMY U Fall Summit kicked off with an insightful marketing panel featuring industry executives reflecting on how to create impactful music marketing campaigns.
During the #Trendsetters panel, esteemed marketing experts Erica Buchi, VP of Marketing Partners at mtheory LLC; Fred Rubenstein, VP of Digital Marketing at Sony Music Nashville; and Bri Small, Director of Digital Content Strategy & Partnerships at Warner Music Nashville discussed how to create innovative music marketing strategies that captivate audiences and disrupt the pop culture landscape. Moderated by Nathan Pyle, Director of Operations at Songfluencer, the panel also included discussion about influencers, experiential marketing and fan engagement.

The panelists discussed their experiences working with artists to ignite their creative personality. Buchi described her position at mtheory LLC as being "very artist-centric," keeping the artists’ creative visions in mind as campaigns are curated.
"We get to help steward along these artists' great work, and there's a load of responsibility with that, but there's also the lean-in that we can provide to help realize their vision," Sony Music Nashville’s Rubenstein said.
Network With A Purpose
Bekah and Josh of Girl Named Tom
Following the success of the curated speed networking session at the 2024 GRAMMY U Conference in New York, the Fall Summit in Nashville curated a similar networking opportunity. Attendees gathered at various mentor stations to meet and learn from esteemed professionals including Todd Dupler (Chief Advocacy & Public Policy Officer, Recording Academy), Latoya Bennett-Johnson (Vice President of Global Sponsorships, Mastercard), Sarah DeMarco (Label Relations, Country, Christian & Gospel at Amazon Music), and Jon Blass (Mixing Engineer and Recording Academy Board Member).
"It was incredible to see GRAMMY U members so driven to get to know the mentors and each other," said Della Anderson, GRAMMY U National Membership Representative, who led the networking mixer. "It can be intimidating to network with people you don’t know, but respect so much. I thought this type of experience, where members have a limited time to connect and had to move on to the next mentor, was valuable because it allowed them to discover different types of people in the industry and network with a purpose."
After the networking session, members stayed and mingled in between performance acts and returned the following night eager to continue connecting with their new industry contacts.
Immerse Yourself For A Rewarding Experience

Summit attendees explored various activations throughout the venue. These immersive and "Instagrammable" activations allowed attendees to experience the moment from many perspectives.
Mastercard's red-and-orange infinity photo booth and ambient candle-ladden courtyard setup enabled attendees to activate all their senses. GRAMMY U members could also try some of Mastercard’s signature cocktails — the Passion and the Optimism — and enjoy these refreshing tastes as they mingled with other attendees. The setup of the event also included an immersive stage, which had an otherworldly look set with neon pink and green pieces; the Y2K photo corner featured a bright pink inflatable couch, tying into the SWEAT Tour Y2K style.
GRAMMY U members were also interviewed on GRAMMY U Live!, which allowed members tuning in virtually to hear another perspective of what was happening in real time and gave attendees their own moment in the spotlight.
The GRAMMY U Fall Summit was jam-packed with as much excitement as there were learning and networking opportunities. Rewatch the #Trendsetters marketing-focused panel HERE and the keynote panel with Charli XCX and Troye Sivan HERE.

FINNEAS
Photo: Muriel Margaret
feature
After nearly a decade of successful collaborations with Billie Eilish and other stars, FINNEAS finally decided to let others in on his own creative process — and it resulted in his most assured work to date. Look back on his journey to his second album.
Heather Taylor-Singh
|GRAMMYs/Oct 3, 2024 - 09:26 pm
With 10 GRAMMYs, two Oscars and countless hits with superstars, FINNEAS has become one of the most remarkable producers of his time. But he credits most of that to good fortune.
"I've had such a lucky career trajectory — I have more success than I ever thought I would," he tells GRAMMY.com over a phone call.
But one doesn't get this far without true skill. The singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, composer, and producer has gained momentous success and has a unique ability to shape emotions into sound, whether he's scoring a new film or working with high-profile artists — mainly his sister, pop superstar Billie Eilish. Honing in on these experiences has helped FINNEAS expand as an artist in his own right, as he turns to collaboration of his own on his sophomore solo album, For Cryin' Out Loud!.
Coming three years after his 2021 debut album, Optimist, For Cryin' Out Loud! is a creative departure from his previous project. While the former was produced and written by FINNEAS himself, he worked with close friends to elevate his second record — and as a result, he sounds more confident than ever before.
The album features an adventurous sonic landscape, with funky guitar riffs, boisterous horns and infectious melodies across its 10 tracks. The bolder sound matches his assured vocal delivery, making For Cryin' Out Loud! feel like the product of everything he has learned — and been working towards — since he was a teen.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, the 27-year-old grew up around creativity. Raised by actor-musician parents, FINNEAS was immersed in the industry from a young age. Though his interest in songwriting was prompted by a class he took with his mom at age 12, he suggests that his production skills came naturally. From the beginning, his mantra has been simple: "There's no right or wrong way to produce a song," he asserts. "If there's any reason for people to pay attention, it's for being yourself and sharing your unique viewpoint."
As he honed his perspective, FINNEAS served as the lead singer and songwriter for his high school alt-rock band, the Slightlys. And while he jokes that they "begged people to come listen to us," the group offered FINNEAS his first taste of success: Along with winning several local Battle of the Bands competitions, they even earned a performance slot at Warped Tour in 2015.
The most fortuitous thing about the Slightlys, though, ended up being a song they never released — but FINNEAS' then-unknown sister Billie did. After he penned a minimalist pop song called "Ocean Eyes" for the band, he decided it would be a better fit for Billie's voice. Little did either of them know, it would be the beginning of a fruitful — and wildly successful — partnership.
The song instantly gained traction on SoundCloud, prompting FINNEAS to start using his songwriting and production power to fuel Eilish's career. Along with being the sole producer for Eilish's debut EP, 2017's dont smile at me, he served as her sole co-writer on all eight tracks, a formula that has continued to prove successful for Eilish's entire career thus far. But as things were booming for Billie, FINNEAS was simultaneously crafting his own breadth of work.
In 2016, FINNEAS began his solo venture by releasing a string of romantic indie-pop songs. His debut single, the lustful "New Girl," features bluesy instrumentals and seductive vocals; 2017's "I'm In Love Without You" offered a more electro-pop-infused sound. As he continued to find his own musical identity, it quickly became clear that his early music would lean into the more bare-bones side of his creativity: breathy vocals, lush strings and rich piano chords.
The next year proved to be pivotal for FINNEAS, both as Eilish's collaborator and as an artist in his own right. As Eilish's career continued to rapidly rise thanks to "you should see me in a crown" and "when the party's over" — the latter of which was penned by FINNEAS himself — he also released eight tracks of his own, two of his biggest songs to date, "Break My Heart Again" and "Let's Fall in Love for the Night."
But it was 2019 that solidified FINNEAS as a force to be reckoned with. Along with co-producing and co-writing all of Eilish's debut album, WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?, he also released his debut EP, Blood Harmony, and scored hits as a songwriter/producer for the likes of Selena Gomez ("Lose You To Love Me"), JP Saxe and Julia Michaels ("If The World Was Ending"), and Ashe ("Moral of the Story"). From the hyper-modern beats of Eilish's album, to the tender balladry of his co-written smashes, to the experimental sounds on his own project, FINNEAS demonstrated that there's no style that he can't master — and in 2020, his talents were rewarded in major fashion.
FINNEAS took home six GRAMMYs at the 2020 ceremony, mostly thanks to his work on WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO? Perhaps the most significant win, though, was his award for Producer Of The Year, Non-Classical, which made him the youngest recipient of the honor at just 22 years old.
As he continued creating with Eilish and expanding his superstar collaborator list — including Justin Bieber, Halsey and Demi Lovato — he also carried on crafting his own music. Just months he celebrated another release with Eilish, 2021's Happier Than Ever, FINNEAS unveiled his debut album, Optimist.
The project doubled down on the modern-sounding aesthetic of Blood Harmony, presenting an effortless adult contemporary spin on the sound he crafted with Eilish — but keeping the lyrical moody extremities. In contrast to its name, Optimist was brooding and edgy, accompanied by thoughts of grief, existentialism and the warped lens of fame; it was likely a product of his isolated creation process, as he wrote and produced all 13 tracks solo.
While FINNEAS was proud of his debut, he says that the album's creation was "a fairly lonely process." And, even despite all of his achievements with Eilish and other stars, "I didn't necessarily have the self-confidence to bring people in."
With that in mind, he pushed his creativity and collaborative efforts further in 2022 and 2023. He wrote and composed music for films — most notably, Pixar's Turning Red in 2022 and a GRAMMY-winning track for Greta Gerwig's Barbie in 2023, both alongside Eilish — and worked with Tate McRae ("I Still Say Goodnight") and Nicki Minaj ("Are You Gone Already"). After wrapping production on Eilish's third album, HIT ME HARD AND SOFT,at the end of 2023, he went back to his solo work — but this time, not so solo. "The main goal in this [next project] was, how can I make this a more exciting, fun experience for myself?," he says.
To create For Cryin' Out Loud!, FINNEAS invited a close group of peers to record live studio sessions, including Aron Forbes, Ricky Gourmet, Lucy Healey, and Miles Morris of the rock band Bad Suns. Almost completely opposite of Optimist, of the 10 tracks on For Cryin' Out Loud!, only one is solely composed and written by FINNEAS (opener "Starf—er").
In turn, For Cryin' Out Loud! features a much bigger soundscape than his previous work. Songs like "Cleats" and "Lotus Eater" feature hazy synths and strong drums that make room for hypnotic humming and chantable choruses. Yet, he didn't entirely move away from his more downtempo beginnings; "Little Window" and "Same Old Story," offer intimate sounds across the album's largely anthemic feel.
One of the album's most poignant tracks is "Family Feud," which calls back to the themes of Optimist — but this time, it's a tribute to his sister. Over soft strings, he croons about the pair's close bond and Eilish's struggles with fame: "And you're only 22/ And the world is watching you/ Judging everything you do."
Even in the album's more somber moments, FINNEAS exudes a new level of self-confidence on For Cryin' Out Loud!. And he's eager to show that to fans around the world: FINNEAS will perform three intimate U.S. shows in October, and already has international dates set for the top of 2025. As for where he'll go from here with his solo work, time will tell — but it certainly seems like he's no longer limiting himself to solo sessions: "I've written a better album by breaking my own set of rules."
